Structural Components

 

1.Disc Assembly

Composed of multiple meticulously designed and closely arranged discs, typically fabricated from high-quality stainless steel or other materials with exceptional corrosion resistance. The surface of the discs is finely treated to ensure good performance and durability during long-term contact with the pulp.

The surface of the discs is densely populated with extremely fine and uniformly distributed pores or filters, whose size and shape are precisely calculated and optimized to effectively filter out water while precisely retaining fibers, achieving efficient separation.

 

2.Central ShaftServing as the core supporting component of the entire equipment, the central shaft is usually meticulously crafted from high-strength alloy steel. This material exhibits outstanding mechanical strength and fatigue resistance, capable of withstanding the significant torque and centrifugal force generated by the high-speed rotation of the disc assembly.

The manufacturing process of the central shaft is sophisticated, with its surface undergoing high-precision machining and heat treatment to ensure flatness and smoothness, reducing friction and wear while enhancing the overall rigidity and stability of the shaft.

 

3.Drive System

4.Feed DeviceThe design of the feed device is crucial as it needs to ensure that the low-concentration pulp can be uniformly, smoothly, and continuously distributed into the narrow spaces between the discs. Specialized feed pipes, distributors, or nozzles are often employed to achieve uniform feed.

The feed device may be equipped with flow control valves, pressure sensors, and liquid level monitoring equipment to precisely control the speed, pressure, and volume of the feed, thereby ensuring the stable operation and efficient thickening of the disc thickener.

 

5.Filtrate Collection Tank

Located at the bottom or side of the equipment, the filtrate collection tank is used to collect the large volume of water filtered out from the discs. It is usually made of stainless steel or corrosion-resistant plastic materials, featuring sufficient capacity and good drainage performance.

Within the collection tank, filtering devices or sedimentation areas may be installed to further remove fine fibers and impurities from the filtrate, improving the quality of the filtrate. The filtrate can be connected to subsequent treatment equipment or reuse systems through pipelines to achieve water resource recycling and environmentally friendly treatment.

 

6.Housing

The housing plays a key role in protecting and supporting the entire equipment and is typically fabricated from sturdy metal materials such as carbon steel or stainless steel. The design of the housing not only considers mechanical strength and stability but also facilitates equipment installation, maintenance, and inspection.

The housing may be equipped with observation windows, access doors, and ventilation holes to allow operators to observe the internal operation of the equipment, conduct routine maintenance, and troubleshoot. Simultaneously, the housing can also serve as sound insulation, heat insulation, and dustproofing, improving the working environment and operating conditions of the equipment.

 

Working Principle

 

1.Feed

The low-concentration pulp enters the disc thickener through a meticulously designed feed device at a stable and controllable flow rate and pressure. During the feeding process, preliminary stirring or dispersion treatment may be applied to ensure the homogeneity and consistency of the pulp.

The precise control and uniform distribution function of the feed device provide favorable starting conditions for the subsequent thickening process, avoiding local accumulation or uneven distribution of the pulp when entering the equipment.

 

2.Rotational Separation

The central shaft is driven by a powerful drive system to rotate at a high and stable speed. This rotational motion is transmitted to the connected disc assembly, causing it to rotate at a high speed as well.

Due to the high-speed rotation of the discs, a strong centrifugal force is generated. Under the action of the centrifugal force, the water in the pulp is forced to be flung outward through the pores or filters on the surface of the discs, while the fibers, due to their larger size and mass, are retained in the spaces between the discs.

This rotational separation process is a key step in achieving the thickening effect of the disc thickener, and its efficient centrifugal force action can quickly and effectively separate water and fibers.

 

3.Concentration and Discharge

As the water is continuously flung out, the pulp fibers remaining between the discs gradually concentrate. The concentration process is a dynamic and continuous one, and the concentration of the pulp continuously increases over time.

When the pulp reaches the predetermined concentration level, it is discharged from the equipment's outlet through a dedicated discharge device and enters the subsequent processing steps or storage facilities. The design of the discharge device ensures the smooth and stable discharge of the concentrated pulp, avoiding clogging and fluctuations.

 

4.Filtrate Treatment

The water filtered out from the discs, namely the filtrate, flows into the filtrate collection tank located at the bottom of the equipment. In the collection tank, the filtrate may undergo a short period of retention and sedimentation to further separate the small amount of fibers and impurities it may carry.

The treated filtrate can be processed differently based on the requirements of the factory. For example, it can be directly discharged to the wastewater treatment system for purification treatment, or it can be reused after further processing and purification to save water resources and reduce production costs.
